Angkor Wat Sunrise by Electric Bike
Sunrise from the front, breakfast at the back, Angkor in between.
You watch sunrise from in front of Angkor Wat with a fraction of the crowd most coaches drop here at 5:30. Then you walk through the temple to the back, where your e-bike is waiting. Breakfast is a picnic by the moat with the trees overhead. From there it's forest trails between the temples — Bayon, the Terraces, the Victoria Gate, Ta Nei, Ta Prohm — the forest waking up around you, the day moving in one direction with no doubling back.

Why ride the sunrise tour
Sunrise without the sunrise crowd
4:45 AM at Angkor Wat, before the buses arrive. Most coaches drop their groups at 5:30 for the postcard view. You'll already be inside, watching the sky turn. Then you walk through the temple to the back, away from the queue.
Tuk-tuk in the dark, e-bike in the light. Safety first — we don't ride bikes when there's nothing to see. Your tuk-tuk handles the pre-dawn pickup. Your e-bike is waiting at the back of Angkor Wat, ready when the day is.
Forest trails between every temple. Bayon, Ta Nei, Ta Prohm — linked by jungle paths, not the loop road. Giant e-bikes do the climbing for you, and the route never doubles back on itself.
Breakfast picnic behind Angkor Wat. By the moat, trees overhead, water beside you. Quieter than any restaurant, better light than any hotel buffet.
Your morning, hour by hour
Itinerary
Pre-dawn · Tuk-tuk to Angkor Wat
4:45 AMTuk-tuk pickup at your hotel. We ride in the dark by tuk-tuk, not by bike — there's nothing to see and the road is shared with traffic.
~5:15 AMInside Angkor Wat. Most coach groups are still in the ticket queue. Your guide walks you to a quieter sunrise spot than the postcard pond.
Sunrise + temple visit · ~2 hours inside Angkor Wat
~5:30 AMSunrise. Sky turns, towers fill out, mist on the moat. Time depends on the season — your guide knows the spot for the day.
6:00–7:30 AMAngkor Wat visit, properly — at least 90 minutes inside. The bas-reliefs of the outer gallery, the second level, the climb to the Bakan if it's open, time at the central towers as the morning light moves across the sandstone.
~7:30 AMExit through the eastern gate to your e-bikes. Breakfast picnic by the moat behind Angkor Wat — trees overhead, water beside you.
Morning ride · Angkor Thom and out
~8:15 AMForest trail to Bayon. The faces look better in morning light, and the corridors are mostly yours at this hour.
~9:30 AMTerrace of Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King. Then exit Angkor Thom through the Victoria Gate, the quieter of the gates.
~10:15 AMForest trail to Ta Nei, a small temple in the trees that almost no coach reaches.
~11:00 AMTa Prohm, the strangler-fig temple. By now the morning groups are leaving and you have time at the iconic walls.
~12 noonBack at your hotel, in time for lunch on your own.

This is your private tour. Your guide reads your pace and adapts as the morning unfolds — longer at the temples that move you, a shorter stop at the ones that don't, or a swap when it feels right. The day moves in one direction, never doubling back.
The magic moment
The hour after sunrise, when the temple empties
The hour the coaches drive away.
The sky is still pink when the coach groups start filing back to their buses for breakfast. You walk the other way, deeper into Angkor Wat, through galleries that empty out in front of you. By the time you reach the eastern gate the temple is mostly yours, and your e-bike is leaning against a tree. Breakfast is ten minutes away, by the moat with the trees overhead.
Same temple, different hour. The morning most visitors miss because they leave.

Visited Angkor for the first time on electric mountain bikes! Went to hidden spots and saw amazing temples you wouldn’t find by van, car or tuktuk. A bike tour through the jungle to witness the least popular but incredibly unique temples, with several stops to enjoy coconut and spot some wild animals along the way, what more can you ask for? Highly recommend!

When most people think about visiting Angkor, they imagine crowds and busy temple entrances. But experiencing Angkor on a bike completely changes the story. An Angkor bike tour takes you beyond the main roads and into quiet jungle trails, hidden paths, and peaceful corners that many visitors never get to see — creating a far more personal and authentic connection with this incredible destination. PLENTY OF Instagrammable picture perfect spots For those who prefer comfort without losing the spirit of adventure, an Angkor e-bike tour is the perfect balance. Effortless riding, premium experience, and the freedom to explore deeper into the temples make it ideal for travelers who want something truly special rather than a standard tour. What truly makes the difference, however, is the people behind the experience. With Akim guiding the journey, every detail was seamless — from timing and route selection to local insights and storytelling. The entire day felt exclusive, well-curated, and genuinely memorable. If you’re looking for more than just sightseeing — and want to experience Angkor in a unique, immersive, and comfortable way — this is absolutely the way to do it.

No special fitness needed. The bikes are electric, so the motor does the climbing for you. If you can ride a regular bicycle, you can ride these. The pace is set by you, not by us, and your guide reads your group and adapts the morning around it.
What if it rains?
If it's raining at start time, we postpone. In thirteen years it has happened about three times. Once we started later the same day when the rain cleared. Once we moved the tour to the next morning. Sunrise tours need a sky to look at, so we don't push through.
What if there's no real sunrise (cloudy morning)?
The tour still runs. Even on a flat-grey morning the temple is at its quietest, the air is at its coolest, and the walk through Angkor Wat with almost no one inside is its own thing. We won't promise a postcard sky, but the rest of the morning still delivers.
How do you avoid the sunrise crowd?
Your guide knows quieter spots than the famous lake-front view, where almost every coach drops its group at 5:30. After sunrise, while everyone heads back to their bus for breakfast, you walk the other way through Angkor Wat to where your e-bike is waiting at the eastern gate.
Why a tuk-tuk for pickup and not the bike?
Safety. The road from town to Angkor Wat is shared with pre-dawn traffic, and there's nothing to see in the dark anyway. Your tuk-tuk handles the pre-dawn leg. Your e-bike is positioned at the back of Angkor Wat, ready when the sun is up and the trail is visible.
How many people will be on the tour?
This is a private tour, so it's just your group. Single-guide capacity is about 6 riders. Larger groups can be accommodated with additional guides, message us to confirm.
Can kids join?
Children need to be at least 110 cm tall to ride their own e-bike. The 4:45 AM start is also worth thinking about — younger children may not enjoy the early hour even if they meet the height.
Is breakfast or lunch included?
Breakfast is included — a picnic served behind Angkor Wat by the moat. Lunch is not included. The tour ends at noon, in time for you to enjoy lunch back at your hotel or in town.
Is the Angkor Pass included?
No. The pass is $37 for one day, bought separately. We recommend buying online at angkorenterprise.gov.kh rather than at the gate.
What languages can the guide speak?
English is the default. French, Spanish, Italian, and German are available on request, for an extra to cover the specialist guide.
What's the cancellation policy?
14+ days before: full refund
Less than 14 days before: 50% refund
Less than 5 days before, or no-show: no refund

I grew up inside the walls of Angkor Wat, in the pagoda where my grandfather, Loung Sake, served as Grand Abbot. The pagoda still stands today, just inside the enclosure.
Girls weren't allowed to sleep in the monastery, so I shaved my head and dressed as a boy to stay close to him. He taught me Sanskrit on palm leaves.
