Angkor Wat Small Circuit Private Tour
Angkor's three great temples in a day, by classic Vespa or vintage Jeep.
This is the Angkor everyone comes for, the temples on the postcards, seen the way most visitors never get to. Your guide grew up here and knows which doorway is quiet while the coaches are still queuing at the front gate. You travel between the temples by classic Vespa or vintage Jeep, stop whenever something catches your eye, and take the whole day at your own pace, not a group's.

Why book the private Small Circuit
The famous temples, the unhurried way
The three temples everyone comes for. Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm in one day, the must-see icons of the Small Circuit, with enough time to actually take each one in rather than tick it off.
Around the crowds, not in them. Your guide grew up beside these temples and reads the day: the quiet doorway while the tour buses are at the front, the shaded corner at midday, Ta Prohm saved for the calmer afternoon.
One direction, never doubling back. Because you are driven, the team drops you at one temple entrance and meets you at another exit. You walk each site through once, more time at the temples and less on the road.
Your own guide, your own pace. Private means just your group. Linger where you want, skip what doesn't grab you, and get the history told to you, not shouted to forty strangers.
Your ride, your choice
Vespa or vintage Jeep
Same route, same guide, same price. Pick the ride that suits you when you book. If you are not sure, tell us a little about your group and we will help you choose.
Klassieke Vespa
You ride behind your own driver, one Vespa and one driver per guest, with your guide alongside the whole way. Open to the air, quick through the lanes, the temple walls sliding past at scooter pace. A couple rides two Vespas. The Vespa always comes with a driver, so you sit back and look up. Best if you want the breeze and the buzz.
Vintage Jeep
A restored Willys jeep with a soft canvas top for shade and the sides left open. We re-engine and fit automatic gearboxes, so it is quiet and easy to ride in, not loud or manual. Your whole group rides together. Your driver takes the wheel, or you can self-drive with a valid international permit (the jeeps are automatic). Best for families and anyone who wants shade and to travel as one.

Ta Prohm
This is your private tour. The Small Circuit is a compact loop of about 17 km, plus around 6 km each way from Siem Reap, and because you are driven it flows one way and never doubles back. Your guide reads your pace and the crowds: longer at Angkor Wat if it grabs you, a quieter corner of Bayon, and Ta Prohm timed for the calmer afternoon.
Het magische moment
The postcard, without the queue in front of it
The temples everyone knows, on a morning that feels like yours.
Most people meet Angkor Wat shoulder to shoulder. You meet it early, walking the long causeway while the air is still cool and the great towers catch the first proper light. Later, when the day-trip buses have filled Ta Prohm, your guide has already moved you on, and you stand under the giant trees as the crowd thins. Between each temple your Vespa or Jeep carries you down the shaded park roads, the whole circuit set to your pace, not a timetable's.
The same Angkor the crowds come for, timed by someone who knows exactly when to be where.

Is one day enough for the Small Circuit, or will I be templed-out?
One day is the right amount of time for the Small Circuit. It covers the three temples most people come to Cambodia to see, Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm, with the gates and a village in between, at a pace that lets you enjoy them rather than rush. Temple fatigue usually comes from cramming the Small and Grand Circuits into a single day; we deliberately don't, which is what keeps this day feeling like a highlight rather than a marathon.
Small Circuit or Grand Circuit, what's the difference and which should I do?
The Small Circuit is the famous inner loop: Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm, plus the gates of Angkor Thom. It's the one to do if you have a single day, and the right choice for a first visit. The Grand Circuit is the wider outer loop of quieter temples (Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som), the natural day two once you've seen the icons. You don't need to do both, and you certainly don't need to do them on the same day.
Which temples are on the tour?
The route runs Angkor Wat, the Tonle Om Gate into Angkor Thom, Bayon and the Terrace of the Elephants, out through the quiet Death Gate, a local handicraft village, lunch in a Khmer house, and Ta Prohm to finish. Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm are the three icons; the gates and the village fill in the story between them. Your guide adapts the order and the timing to the day and the crowds.
How long is the Small Circuit loop, and how far is it?
The Small Circuit is a compact loop of about 17 km inside the park, plus roughly 6 km each way between Siem Reap and the temples. Because this is a private driven tour by Vespa or Jeep, that distance sits comfortably inside a relaxed day of about seven hours, with the time spent at the temples rather than on the road. For the full temple-by-temple plan, see our Angkor Small Circuit itinerary guide.
Can I choose Vespa or Jeep? What's the difference?
Yes, you choose, and it's the same route, same guide, same price either way. The Vespa is a classic scooter: you ride behind your own driver, one Vespa per guest, quick and open to the air. The Jeep is a restored Willys, re-engined and automatic, with a soft canvas top for shade and the sides left open, and your whole group rides together. Couples and solo travellers often pick the Vespa for the breeze; families and groups often pick the Jeep for the shade and the room. Tell us which when you book, or tell us about your group and we'll help you choose.
Do I drive, or am I driven?
On the Vespa you are always a passenger behind your own driver, you don't drive it yourself. On the Jeep your driver takes the wheel by default, but you're welcome to self-drive with a valid international driving permit, since the jeeps are automatic. Either way a driver and your guide are with you the whole day.
Is a private tour worth it over a group tour?
On this tour you're always in your own private group, with a guide and driver just for you. That means you set the pace, linger where you want, skip what doesn't grab you, and get the history told to you rather than shouted to forty people. At the Small Circuit's famous temples it matters most of all, because a private guide can time your visits to slip around the biggest crowds instead of joining them.
What time does the tour start, and is there hotel pickup?
Pickup is from your hotel at around 8 AM, and because the tour is private you can shift it earlier or later to suit your group. You'll be back at your hotel by about 2:30 PM, roughly seven hours later, with the rest of the afternoon free. If you'd rather start at dawn for sunrise at Angkor Wat, that's our separate Sunrise tour.
Is lunch included? What's the food like?
Yes, lunch is included: a picnic-style Khmer meal in a traditional wooden house inside the park, with plenty of drinks through the day. It's home-style Cambodian food, and we're happy to work around dietary needs, just tell us when you book. It's a real sit-down break in the shade, not a rushed stop.
Is de Angkor Pas inbegrepen?
No. The Angkor Pass is $37 for one day, bought separately. We recommend buying it online in advance at angkorenterprise.gov.kh rather than queuing at the gate. You'll need it to enter every temple on the route, and children under 12 go free (bring their passport as proof).
How do I avoid the crowds at the famous temples?
That's the main advantage of going private with a local guide. Our guides grew up beside these temples and know when each one is busiest, so they time your visits around the crush, Angkor Wat early, Ta Prohm in the calmer afternoon, and the quiet doorways and corners the tour groups walk straight past. You can't move the crowds, but you can usually stay a step ahead of them.
Wat moet ik aandoen?
Angkor is an active religious site, so shoulders and knees need to be covered to go inside the temples, for everyone. Light, loose, breathable clothing is best in the heat, and a scarf or sarong is an easy way to cover up. Closed shoes are comfiest on the uneven stone, and since both the Vespa and the Jeep are open to the air, bring sun cover too.
Wat als het regent?
The tour still runs in the rain. Siem Reap's rain usually comes in short bursts, and we hand out poncho-style raincoats. The Vespa and Jeep are open vehicles, so you may feel a little of the weather, but the day goes ahead. If a storm makes the roads genuinely unsafe, we talk it through and find the best plan.
Mogen kinderen meedoen?
Yes, families are welcome. On Vespa and Jeep tours, children aged 4 to 12 get 30% off and under-4s ride free. Kids ride as passengers with the driver, and on the Jeep a child seat can be fitted on request. Because it's private, the day flexes around younger travellers, more breaks, more shade, and the temples that hold their attention.
Welke talen spreekt de gids?
English is the default. French, Spanish, Italian and German can be arranged on request for a small surcharge, since we book a guide who speaks your language. Tell us what you need when you book and we'll confirm availability and the exact cost.

Adventures Cambodia begon in 2013. Elke tour is privé en wordt geleid door een local.
